You’ve misconstrued Maya Angelou’s quote. There is a huge difference between someone telling you who they are (e.g. “I’m a blameless victim of a cheater”) and showing you who they are (e. g. *literally cheats on you*). Angelou wrote novels and understood that show v tell means actions v narrative.

I agree with your overall premise that actions speak louder than words. That was Maya Angelou’s point as well, and why she used the word show.
