You do a great job of describing the undefinable glory of heavy metal. I gravitate toward bluesy sludge metal (Down, or the proto metal magic of Fuzz—listen to Earthen Gate if you’re unfamiliar) but there is too much good metal out their to limit myself to a category. The Icelandic film Metalhead, streaming on Kanopy, is a stunning meditation on black metal.
