You are so right about all of this but especially the phrase “I deserve” as a fast track to financial ruin. I know several people who struggle financially and are heavy users of the “I deserve it” justification. If you can’t afford it, whether you deserve it is irrelevant. Shifting from “I deserve it” to “I don’t need it” can save you a lot of money.
