Yesterday I read an piece on Hurt by a popular male Medium writer nattering on about how “complex” and “complicated” and “vexing” it is to mourn or celebrate him while being (inconveniently!) forced to acknowledge his brutality.

I don’t find it complex at all: if someone beats and rapes people I really don’t care what else they’ve accomplished in life. We’re all better off without them, and all we should be “celebrating” is the fact that in death they can never do it again. Mewling about how “complex” it is just gives other abusers cover.
