When it comes to my 20-something kids my mantra is “I am not the CEO of their lives.” With the younger (just turned 22, lives at home, works full time, pays rent) I find the less I do for/remind him the more he picks up the slack for himself. The bottomline is doing what works best for both of you—trust that you know your child and what he needs from you, or can manage on his own.
