Those beloved anti-vax friends and esteemed colleagues are going to gloat when you get breakthrough Covid. Your vaccinated friends will care. The unvaccinated ones will smugly claim that your illness proves they’re right. I know this from experience. No one is more devoid of compassion than people who refuse to get a simple shot when millions of people are dying.

And yes, “when” you get it. Not if. Because your esteemed friends and colleagues have made your breakthrough Covid infection inevitable, just like they did mine.
