This is why I hate comments from men no matter how “sincere” they think they’re being. It’s neither for us nor about us. What they’re really doing is demanding our attention and immediate compliance (“Smile!”) and many turn abusive the split second it doesn’t go their way. Every male comment in this vein is designed to shove women in “their place” whether the loudmouth himself is aware of it or not.

So men, if you find me attractive or I make your peen tingle, keep that to yourself—I don’t want to know. If my scowl unsettles you, shut your mouth and look away. I’m just another human, 100% as valuable and legitimate as you, minding my own business and going about my day. The last thing I will ever need is your unsolicited commentary.
