This is such a brave piece on something that really needed to be said, Ruby. While I’m sympathetic to pet rescue orgs’ concerns about placing pets in good hands, I too have seen them get carried away with themselves to the point of blatant power tripping. They’ve also screwed me over twice, lying about dog’s temperament (they refused to take him back and he went on to maul my cat to death) and later, a kitten’s health (they gave him to me with wet FIP, a heartbreaking fatal disease). They can miss me entirely with their halo polishing.
