The notion of the “firm handshake” as a signifier of personal strength has resulted in insecure men crushing my hand in their misbegotten attempt to impress. I don’t even want to touch most people, let alone endure needless pain in the name of a “polite” greeting/farewell. I’ve even had a creep in a business setting use a handshake to yank me in and plant a very much unwanted kiss on my lips. Handshakes need to die!
