The more I read about Instagram advertisers the less I want to buy anything from them.
The brand that didn’t deliver for me is the IRS. They sent me a “Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights” declaring that as their “customer” I have “a right to excellent service,” —along with a notice that I owed them money on my 2020 taxes. I’d actually paid my 2020 income tax on time and in full.
Well, they have no interest in servicing their so-called customers. They billed me for the amount I’d already paid, plus it interest and penalties. I even have the 1040-V check they cashed!
Turns out those morons applied my 2020 payment to my 2021 estimated tax. After navigating a Byzantine automated phone system and sitting for 3+ hours on hold with “customer service,” I was told there was “nothing they could do” and I’d just have to wait until my 2021 taxes were filed and paid in full before they could reapply my 2020 payment to my 2020 taxes. Oh, and in the meantime they’d charge me 3% compounding interest, plus mounting penalties, on the thousands of dollars I’d already paid—yet still “owed” because of their stupid mistake. Then they just hung up on me.
I really can’t recommend doing business with the IRS. Their rates are exorbitant, they refuse to own up to their mistakes, it’s nearly impossible to talk to a human there and when you do, they’re arrogant and rude. I’m surprised they don’t have slick influencer ads all over Instagram. They’d fit right in!
