Social media is a hothouse for growing radical conspiracy theorists. People fall for conspiracy theories because they make them feel smarter, “in the know” and provide a sense of belonging (to a group that believes similar BS). None of those motives have anything to do with what’s true, which is why screaming the truth at conspiracy theorists can never change their minds.
