My theory about people who never let you get a word in edgewise is they’re afraid. Any conversation not controlled by their wall-of-words tactic could land on a topic they’re uncomfortable with, or reveal their ignorance. If you are a truth teller, they will go even harder, talking right over you even if you’re only interjecting to agree.

Keep in mind though that pressured speech—fast, nonstop, overly detailed and hard-to-follow talking where the speaker talks even faster and louder if you try to say anything—is a symptom of a mood disorder (like bipolar) and is a compulsion the talker can’t moderate. If someone asks you a question then interrupts your answer with a 10-minute monologue at 3x speed, you’re probably witnessing pressured speech. Don’t take it personally, they really can’t help themselves.

Saltier than a cocktail peanut and here to get ignored by a much wider audience.
