I’ve always hated that expression. Thank you for explaining why. I’ve both worked outside the home full time as a new mother and stayed home full time with a (subsequent) infant. For me, working outside the home to meet the demands of my career while worrying about my infant was a thousand times harder than stay-home mommydom. Staying home was a straight up luxury and privilege undertaken joyfully without any household help. My previous experience as a “working mother” kept it in perspective for me.
