In most cases, no, parents shouldn’t be held responsible for their children’s crimes. However, the Crumbleys clearly knew of their child’s volatile mental state (as shown in texts) yet went ahead and armed the kid with a gun (Happy 14th Birthday Ethan!!!) , failed to secure that gun, laughed off his search for bullets at school, and refused to take him home or seek mental healthcare for him when the school requested it. These criminally negligent choices facilitated the mass slaying committed by their kid. Had the Crumbleys done the bare minimum, those murders never would have happened. Parenting is a responsibility.
