I’m so sorry your daughter suffered her father’s emotional abuse. I too chose to take my husband’s last name.

Thank you for not shaming those of us who do share our husband’s surname. Like me, many change to their spouse’s last name for reasons other than blind obedience to a sexist tradition. My spouse’s family gives me a sense of belonging that I vale deeply . I’m honored to share their name.
