I really wanted to see Wendy’s comeuppance and for Ruth to prevail, but after the ending sank in I realized it was actually brilliant. Mel says “This isn’t how it works in the real world” and Wendy scoffs “Since when?” She is right: All political power is built on a foundation of greed and evil. Ozark didn’t give us the satisfying ending of traditional story telling, it gave us the truth. I respect it for that.
