I love when a writer’s voice is so instantly recognizable that you know who you’re reading without checking the byline. I despise when writers conflate voice and style with affection; all lower case, starting every sentence with “and,” strings of one sentence paragraphs, etc. In a sense, voice is what your writing sounds like when you’re immersed in what you’re saying and not trying to sound any particular way.
