I know several traditionally published authors and every last one of them will tell you that it’s not at all what it used to be. Unless you’re household name—and by that I mean your book is available at the grocery store—don’t quit your day job. Traditionally published authors are barely making it these days. Worse, they’re expected to do most of their own marketing now, just like self-published authors but with less control and a much smaller cut.
