I had an hour-plus wait in a crowded hotel lobby because my room wasn’t ready—even though I’d arrived shortly after check-in time. I was patient and understanding, as it was obvious the hotel was sold out for a big event and everyone just wanted to get into their rooms. I didn’t ask for special treatment. When I was finally called back to the front desk, the clerk apologized for the long wait and said she’d upgraded my room. She wasn’t kidding; the room offered a stunning view of the park. You are so right that kindness is the way to go.
