I agree, Samantha. While the author correctly identifies that the show’s rampant racism and sexism have aged poorly, he seems to want to blame progressivism for that.

If the show was remade today and explored what it was like to be the black people taking the fall for white mafia crimes, or the goomars and sex workers getting exploited and murdered by mafia men, it would actually be a lot more interesting. And to be fair, The Sopranos did offer a few more inclusive storylines in later seasons and was all the better for it.

Inclusion is never a threat to good storytelling.
