I absolutely agree that more studies on women’s health are desperately needed in virtually all areas. Purely anecdotally, I’ve been intermittent fasting for over 5 years and the only effects I’ve experienced are positive —including a reduction in my hypothyroid prescription. I don’t know whether fasting improved my thyroid function or if the 45 lbs I’ve lost and kept off simply means I require a lower dose. In either case it seems like an improvement. I also no longer need a c-pap machine and my rheumatoid arthritis symptoms disappeared. But just as things are often different for women than men, they can be different from individual to individual. This is why, while having great health success with IF, I don’t push it on others or assume it will work for everyone.
