How is it that you always confirm my darkest suspicions about the publishing industry? I don’t know who should have won that fiction Pulitzer but I was deeply unimpressed with Kingsolver’s Demon Copperhead. The formerly brilliant author has developed a ham-fisted approach to “educating” her readers about widely understood (to the point of cliche) social issues. “I’ll bet you don’t even know Big Pharma caused the opioid crisis. I’ll bet you’re clueless that some foster care parents just do it for the money. Don’t you realize poverty sucks?Or that Appalachia was done hard by? I’m sure you don’t even know what the unions did for labor.”

It was embarrassingly condescending.

Saltier than a cocktail peanut and here to get ignored by a much wider audience.
