Heroes having the same or similar names explains why every other female protagonists is named some version of “Kate” (Cat, Cait, Caitlyn, Katherine, Katrina, Kit, Cath, Katie, Catnis, et al). It’s so overused that my initial reaction to a “Kate” protagonist is “This writer probably lacks imagination.”
