For 5 years now I’ve been intermittent fasting: One meal a day, at most a meal a a snack, averaging 20+ hours of fasting per day. I initially lost 45 pounds and have kept it off easily and remained at the low end of healthy weight for my size. I never count calories! It’s unnecessary and a bore.
What’s been most gratifying is that I no longer get that ravenous hunger I suffered from when I was eating throughout the day. Ghrelin doesn’t rule my life anymore. There is tremendous freedom in not having to drop everything to find some unsatisfactory food to eat just to stop my stomach from complaining.
