Do we lose our memory skills because we’ve stopped enjoying novels or do we stop enjoying novels because we’ve lost our memory skills? I alway have a novel going (currently, two: Cloud Atlas and Fleishman is in Trouble) but I have noticed that the more viewpoint characters and timelines a novel throws at me, the harder it becomes to follow.
