As another bullied kid (in the 70s, I’m older than dirt) I can assure you the cool fashion item had no protective magic. Back then it was Adidas tennis shoes. A family friend took pity on my dorky ass and gave me a like-new pair she’d outgrown. The bullies immediately dubbed mine “KK Adidas,” KK being their slang for anything from Kmart or Kresge’s. A&F likely wouldn’t have saved you from your bullies, I’m sorry to report. The last thing they will tolerate is someone they’re bullying wearing their fashions.
